“Tree Alarms in Lynn”
by Jay Pozark
The Fire Prevention branch of the Lynn Fire Department has been working hard planting the seeds of fire safety in the minds of Lynn residents. Their efforts seem to have taken root.
Recently a call came into the FAO via a 911 trunk line. A woman called from 130 Beacon Hill Ave. reporting a local fire alarm sounding in the vicinity of 48 Bayview Ave. Incident # 9763 was generated at 2218 Hours. The computer popped out closest City Box #427 Hamilton Ave. & Bayview Ave. A Still Alarm assignment of Eng. #1 under the command of Capt. Jack Barry and Lad. #1 under Lt. Joe Carritte responded. Arriving first Eng. #1 started the primary search and directed Lad. #1 to continue in. Within a few minutes the companies reported the correct location as 44, the rear, Bayview Ave. A smoke detector sounding in a tree house! No floor or limb was given for the activation.
Boy those guys in Fire Prevention are tough. However at least their efforts are bearing fruit. Now if we only could get these people to turn over a new leaf and change their batteries when they change their clock.
