The Box 41 Associates were founded in 1914, on
the 25th anniversary of the first Great Lynn Fire. The alarm for
the fire was sounded from Fire Alarm Box 41, which was in the area
of present day Munroe Street. The original members were veteran
firefighters who had fought this blaze, which consumed much of the
downtown area. A second conflagration, in 1981 involved much of
the same area as the first fire. Today,
members include current
and retired Lynn firefighters and officers, members of surrounding
departments, and buffs. The club is a member of the IFBA Region 1.
Meetings are held at 7:30 PM on the third Wednesday of the month,
September through June, and feature entertainment including slides,
videos and guest speakers. The majority of meetings are held
at VFW Post 507, High Rock St., Lynn, MA. If interested in
attending a meeting or membership information contact President
Raoul Vincent for further information. Annual dues are $15.00.
